Okanagan Sunflowers | Original Oil Mixed Media Painting

Okanagan Sunflowers is an original oil mixed media painting celebrating the warmth and abundance of summer in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley.

Golden sunflowers rise from deep green foliage while a butterfly and bee bring the garden to life. Rich texture runs through the flowers and surrounding growth, creating a surface that changes as the light moves across it.

Warm golds sit against cooler greens and turquoise tones, giving the painting the sun-filled energy I associate with an Okanagan summer.

Amanda’s Inspiration

Sunflowers have such presence. They are unapologetically bright, tall and full of life.

Living in the Okanagan, summer can feel almost overflowing with colour. Gardens are buzzing, flowers are reaching towards the sun and insects are constantly moving from one bloom to another.

I wanted Okanagan Sunflowers to capture more than the flowers themselves. The bee and butterfly are an important part of the painting because a garden is never just flowers. It is an entire living community.

That idea of connection runs throughout The Living Garden, celebrating not only what grows, but the small lives that make those spaces feel truly alive.
