Lavender Wings | Original Painting

Lavender Wings is an original acrylic painting inspired by lavender, butterflies and the quieter side of a summer garden.

Purple lavender rises through the composition beneath a luminous open sky, while a butterfly becomes the gentle focal point among the flowers. Cooler purples, greens and atmospheric blues give this painting a peaceful quality, with space around the flowers allowing the scene to breathe.

Rather than filling every inch of the canvas, I wanted the quieter areas to be part of the painting.

Amanda’s Inspiration

One of my favourite things about lavender is that you often hear the garden before you really look at it. Bees move constantly between the tiny flowers and butterflies appear and disappear among the stems.

There is so much activity, yet somehow lavender still feels peaceful.

That contradiction inspired Lavender Wings.

The butterfly became a symbol of that fleeting moment when you stop long enough to notice what is happening around you. The light, the movement and the tiny lives hidden within the flowers.
